Special build / piece - 'one off' with extremely "Old Growth" Fir
SERIAL #: 212A2RF435 / MIDNIGHT BLUE
"THIS GUITAR WAS MADE BY 'JUAN TERAN' IN THE TOWN OF PINCHER CREEK. NOT BY A ROBOT IN A FACTORY."
This JP-H1-OG in Midnight Blue with Tortoise pick-guard and black hardware is as stunning as it is unique. Sleek lines and light weight (approx 7.2lbs) it is equipped with a single "Emerald '91" Humbucker designed and hand-wound exclusively for Teran Guitars by PegCity Pickups. You will not believe how great this guitar sounds and feels.
As per all Teran OG models, the body of this guitar was hand-carved from Old Growth Fir (thus the OG) reclaimed from decommissioned Alberta Grain Elevators. BUT... The wood we chosen for this particular body was extremely old. It was showing 20-30 growth rings per square inch! It is some seriously rare Old Growth wood we have saved, repurposed and given you the chance to own!
We chose to finish this particularly special guitar body with a special 'Midnight Blue' colour only available in CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate) lacquer rather than our usual Nitro lacquer and it has turned out 'gloriously'!
Our hand-carved, slightly slanty single-cut is rock-solid in every way. Killer hardware, a 25" scale, and maximum resonance in a lightweight machine ready for all of your heavy lifting without breaking your back, or your bank.
The JP has been designed with a custom break angle to give you a familiar single-cut feel but with the stability of a bolt-on neck. Our proprietary 2+4 headstock optimizes string pull and balances tension across the fingerboard for plenty of slink and tonnes of stability while virtually eliminating the threat of 'easy' headstock breakage associated with many single-cuts.
With a price similar to that of mass produced American branded models, we are confident that the JP-OG is one of the absolute best values in the electric guitar market, period.
This Midnight Blue JP-OG guitar is non-gloss, fine lacquer spray finished. The body is not grain-filled to allow maximize resonance and faster aging; the guitar will become more personalized with every sweaty performance.
What is OG?
90+ year old reclaimed Old Growth Fir.
- Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir from decommissioned and demolished Southern Alberta grain elevators.
This beautiful reclaimed timber would already have been hundreds of years old when harvested by a Canadian logging industry that had not yet realized the benefits of protecting Old-Growth forests.
The harvested timber then endured infamous (and relentless) Southern Alberta Chinook winds for an additional 90+ years when it was used to build the iconic Alberta Grain Elevators.
By repurposing this Old Growth Fir into our OG guitar bodies, we are proud to offer guitarists a piece Canadian heritage while keeping this very special timber relevant for generations to come. Having weather-aged to a hard, tight grain while generally weighing in at 7-8 pounds; the JP-OG is highly resonant, producing loud, complex acoustic tones that amplify awesomely.
Wooden grain elevators are an iconic structure that dominated local landscapes since 1895 but the Alberta Wheat Pool discontinued the practice of building them out of wood in 1985.
