What is OG?
90+ year old reclaimed Old Growth Fir.
- Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir from decommissioned and demolished Southern Alberta grain elevators.
 
This beautiful (and plentiful) reclaimed timber would already have been hundreds of years old when harvested by a Canadian logging industry that had not yet realized the benefits of protecting Old-Growth forests.
 
The harvested timber then endured infamous (and relentless) Southern Alberta Chinook winds for an additional 95+ years as it was used to build the iconic Alberta Grain Elevators.  
 
By repurposing this Old Growth Fir into our OG guitar bodies, we are proud to offer guitarists a piece Canadian heritage while keeping this very special timber relevant for generations to come.  Having aged to a hard, tight grain and light weight it is highly resonant producing loud, complex acoustic tones that amplify remarkably.
 
Wooden grain elevators are an iconic structure that dominated local landscapes since 1895 but the Alberta Wheat Pool discontinued the practice of building them out of wood in 1985.
 
When employed in our JP single-cut;  low string chording is punchy and thick while the high-mids soar!  Turn up the gain and you will enjoy gutteral riffing and singing lead tones.
 
JP bodies are hand-carved (of course) and matched with roasted Maple necks and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboards.   This guitar is packed with high-end hardware and quality electronics.  You will find huge T single-coil spank, twang and roar from the bridge pickup while the 'Fulltron' neck offers familiar classic G-type sounds, and a mesmerizing array of middle position soundscaping.  High end 250K pots and a treble bleed really pull it all together and dial-in the JP/T's genre-eating capabilities. 
 
No grain-filler is used on OG guitar bodies to allow the tonewood to resonate to it's fullest capacity.  If you are looking for a super shiny 'high gloss' look, this is not the choice for you.  Our finishes do not hide all imperfections (like pin-holes or small knots) like the thick, choking laquers used in most brand name guitars; but they 'do' feel silky (never sticky) to the touch and allow maximum vibration and connection to your instrument.  Aesthetically, you will see some grain under hard-lighting and the guitar will age more quickly than heavily clearcoated guitars.
