At Teran Guitars, BL always stands for "Black Limba". It's one of our absolute favourite tone-woods for electric guitar bodies. If you love T's but already have a few, this is the one you need.
Black Limba is your ultimate differentiator. It isn't new to the electric guitar market, but most of us are not aware that it is directly responsible for the distinct sonic differences found between legendary humbucking Vintage V's / X's and their more famous sibling LP single-cuts. Think Mahogany with more low-end clarity without losing tonal size.
When employed in our solid-body T's, low string chording is punchy and thick while the high-mids shine during fingerpicking and arpegios. Turn up the gain and you will enjoy guttaral riffing and soaring lead tones ideal for most rock, blues, country-rock contexts. Really crank-up-the-Amp-gain and roll-back the tone knob (to taste) and we're pretty sure you do things you never dreamed of doing on a T-style guitar ;)
Our BL T's often get reactions of 'surprise' from seasoned pro's. They are everything you expect from a T-style guitar, just supercharged (but not by using higher output pickups).
Black Limba T bodies are hand-carved (of course) and combined with a HardRock Maple or Torrefied Maple neck (depending on availability of supply). This guitar is packed with high-end hardware and electronics including hand-wound (see specifications) single-coil pickups designed exclusively for Teran Guitars.
What is 'Worn'?
We finish out BL electric guitar bodies with Pigment and Dye (not Nitro or Poly) so that the beautiful Black figuring asthetic is not lost to the eye.
Also, we do not use any grain-filler on BL guitars to allow this incredible tonewood to resonate to it's fullest capacity. If you are looking for a super shiny 'high gloss' look, this is not the choice for you. BL 'Worn' finishes do not hide imperfections or pin-holes in your tonewood, but they feel silky (never sticky) to the touch and allow maximum vibration and connection to your instrument. Aesthtically, Pigment and Dye finished guitars will age much more quickly than any lacquer-finished guitar as sweat and natural oils are not kept out by a thick inpenatrable coating.
T-S2-BL's are 'loud' and 'clear' before you even plug them in. Add your favourite amp and you are going to have a hard time walking away from your rig.
